Color catches the eye: images of the week (week 20)

Technology

It doesn’t always have to be the black sheep, sometimes it’s the white tulip in the predominantly red field. Luminous Flower gives you a moment to breathe amidst the intensely luminous floral splendor. Gallery photographer Fenchi81 appropriately calls last Saturday’s photo “out of place”.

Color, in some cases, emphasizes the details. The eye of the little courier, which Carl-Peter Herbolzheimer was able to photograph from the parked car, has a bright orange border. Due to the intense expression, the bird appears as if it is making eye contact and as if it is looking at the viewer quizzically.

Some birds have such bright feathers that they themselves become a spectacle. But the two specimens in our photo from Sunday also provided the photographer with an adequate show. Peter Engel reports: “I was sitting in my hide hut, in front of which I built a huge bird pool. It is actually always busy with birds coming to bathe, drink or feed. Here the siskin and yellowhammer arrived at the same time and the siskin evidently didn’t like not being alone at the table.”

Andreas Joachim Lins, on the other hand, prefers to photograph people. With model Virgina Hinz, he tested the look of different wigs against the overflowing blossoms of fruit and ornamental trees during a photo shoot in Hanover’s Berggarten. Dark clothing was chosen not to be distracting. Red hair seems to be on fire, as the title of the picture “Everything is burning” expresses.

But it doesn’t always just shine on the ground below, the sky also shines under special circumstances. The best-known phenomena in our latitudes are certainly sunrise and sunset. The northern lights, which we usually only know from the far north and which are usually associated with an equally complex journey, are even more colorful. However, our gallery photographer F. Neuber managed to capture the colored lights in Germany over Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania:

“Concerning the idea, I can say that I use the “Aurora” app to closely monitor the northern lights forecast. On this day, 23.04. it was that time again: the KP index was above eight and therefore the probability of sighting was very high. The peculiarity of this time is that the auroras appeared in all directions and not only in the north.

Then cameras were installed and it started around 8:45pm – until around 11:40pm. For the shot I used my Nikon D4 and the Tamron SP 15-30mm f2.8 Di VC USD G2. The recording settings were: 15 mm | ISO 5000 | f/2.8 | 8 s The choice of the photo for publication was due to the two-tone colouring, not so common in our latitudes.

A side story: I actually wanted to go to the beach on the Baltic Sea, but since it was Sunday and I wanted to work again early on Monday, the only location I chose was my terrace with a meadow and a barn.

We have summarized all of this week’s photos for you in our gallery.
