There are people who have opinions about things they shouldn’t have a say on. Even something as personal as breastfeeding a baby. The mothers share their experiences.

When it comes to the topic When it comes to breastfeeding, women have very different experiences. For some it runs smoothly and works as many have imagined before. However, other mothers experience breast infections or generally find breastfeeding painful or uncomfortable. Some women are not even able to produce enough milk which can be very distressing for them. They often blame themselves or worse, get unsolicited and demanding comments from other people when they want to decide not to breastfeed because of the problems. Some women refuse to breastfeed for personal reasons, and that’s okay too.

Many women have to justify themselves

A mother’s very personal decision to stop breastfeeding or to bottle from the beginning should be hers. After all, it’s her body and she has to be OK with that decision. Mothers aren’t “selfish” if they don’t try to breastfeed or keep trying. There is no need to upset them, insult them or make them feel guilty. Unfortunately, in our society, mothers often have to listen to unnecessary things. Breastfeeding is a must for many strangers, but please not in public? According to a study, this also does not belong here. Moms often fail to please people no matter what they choose. But that shouldn’t be the goal either. In our community, women who were unwilling or unable to breastfeed honestly shared their experiences.

Social pressure is high

Friends or family members, midwives and doctors often support women who want to decide not to breastfeed to move forward. And this topic is increasingly becoming a topic of public interest. For example, influencer MEL reports her experiences on the Instagram account “deine_magefuehle”. She didn’t like the feeling of breastfeeding, she explains to her followers. “It was uncomfortable and painful,” MEL said in a video. However, the young mother initially found it difficult to stop breastfeeding due to pressure from others. Friends and relatives have commented, among other things, with sayings such as: “But it’s the best for your child”.

“I’ve weaned and have a great bond with my kids,” she explains on Instagram. She was happy to give bottled milk to her children because she was beautiful and she liked the bond. Just like the freedoms she’s had as a result. Because she was no longer the only one who could feed the baby. She helped her feel good again. Her children are still healthy and hypoallergenic. “It was the right decision for me, for us.”
