Is Biab Nails the best alternative to gel nails?

People & Style

Gel, acrylic, shellac – beautiful, well-groomed nails with beautiful designs not only look good, they also have the advantage of a long shelf life. However, the natural nail also suffers from the discomforts it is exposed to during a manicure which builds up. One method that is said to be less harmful but still produces beautiful and long-lasting results is “biab nails”.

Many of us have a passionate love-hate relationship with gel nails. On the one hand you get a beautiful and long-lasting manicure, on the other you know that the natural nail suffers a lot. The nail trend “Biab Nails” should now lead to at least as beautiful results and at the same time dispense with harmful manicure methods. STLYEBOOK does the check.

What are Biab Nails?

“Biab Nails” is a particularly gentle way of painting nails. Biab stands for “Builder in a Bottle” and was created by “The GelBottle” brand. The principle of the Biab manicure is simple: a self-leveling build-up gel is applied in a thin layer to the natural nail. The nail is then cured briefly under a UV LED lamp. The nail polish method can be prescribed between gel nails and shellac. The base coat and primer are already included in the product. Also there is only one top coat. Biab is not only a relatively delicate type of manicure, it is also done in the blink of an eye!

These are the benefits

Even if Biab Nails is not revolutionizing the nail art market, as a further development of the classic gel or shellac manicures they bring some advantages. While both gel and shellac attack the nail over time, Biab is a gentler method: on the one hand, the nail does not get completely rough with each refill and, on the other hand, it hardens much faster thanks to the innovative LED UV lamp. Another plus: Biab Nails lasts up to 6 weeks on the natural nail! This not only puts less strain on the nails, but also supports the growth of the nails. Biab Nails is also cruelty-free and completely vegan.

Who are Biab Nails suitable for?

Basically, Biab Nails are for everyone. However, they are currently particularly advertised for strengthening thin and brittle nails. Even those who tend to bite their nails can declare war on broken nails with this manicure. Biab varnish seals the nail without attacking it, so it can grow back healthy underneath. But the method can also be used as a basis for nail art or as a classic manicure or pedicure.

How to apply Biab Nails?

You only need a few products for a Biab manicure, including a cuticle remover, a nail file, a UV LED lamp and of course the Biab gel plus top coat.

Step 1: Prepare the natural nail

Although the natural nail does not have to be treated beforehand, as with the classic gel, it still needs to be prepared for the subsequent manicure. To do this, use a file to bring the nail into the desired shape and push the cuticles back. The nail is then slightly roughened with a fine file. Deposits can be removed this way.

Phase 2: Application and construction of the Biab gel

In the second step, the Biab Nails Building Gel is applied to the nail in thin layers. Application is done with a brush directly from the bottle. The first layer cures under the UV LED lamp for 99 seconds. Because the gel is self-leveling, there’s almost no need to correct the shape after it sets. Depending on how intense the result should be, several layers of gel are applied – there are no limits to cute designs and bright colors.

Step 3: Top Coat and Sweat Layer

If you’re satisfied with your nail design, it’s time for the last layer: the top coat. You also apply it in a thin layer and let it cure under the UV LED lamp to seal the nail. Finally, you should only remove the resulting sweat layer with a cotton swab and detergent. Voila, Biab manicure is so quick and easy!

cost of treatment

Obviously the cost of Biab Nails varies from salon to salon. In practice, you pay between 40 and 60 euros for a new modeling. Filling nails is cheaper for this. If you have a UV LED lamp at home, you can easily make Biab Nails at home. A bottle of the classic reconstruction gel costs around 30 euros.

Care and removal of Biab Nails

After Biab manicure you should pay attention to a few things. It is therefore advisable to avoid heat, such as saunas or hot baths, for the first 24 hours in order not to soften the cuticles again immediately after the treatment. The gel can also be damaged by chlorine or sunscreen, so it is best to wash your hands after contact. Biab Nails are removed with a gentle ceramic cutter (harder titanium attachments are often used for gel and acrylic) or with acetone.
