Biathlon world championships in Nove Mesto: Roman Rees competes in the individual for Philipp Nawrath – Justus Strelow in the mixed single

It was already clear that Justus Strelow would be spared for the single mixed on Thursday.

“The focus is definitely on filming,” Rees said. It’s a sort of “starting from scratch: it’s hard for me to gauge how I compare to the competition. I’m happy that it’s finally starting and I’m excited about my effort here at the World Championships in front of a gigantic audience.”

Rees started the season with a singles win for Östersund and the yellow jersey, but after a lingering coronavirus infection he has recently struggled with his form.

Without Rees, the Germans had disappointed in the first two individual races due to material problems, and so far it had not been enough to enter the top ten in Nove Mesto.
