The designer Moses Nieto has won the first edition of the Madrid Capital of Fashion award promoted by the Association of Fashion Creators of Spain (ACME) and the Madrid City Council in order to grant recognition to creative and business development projects of prestigious designers.
The jury highlighted that the designer from Jaén has presented a mature project that “focuses on craftsmanship and sustainability.” Moisés Nieto has been “happy” to have won with a project that aims to revitalize “national crafts and place it in the place it deserves.”
From the Association of Creators, which presides Modesto Race, have expressed their “most sincere congratulations” to Moisés Nieto, and have outlined his commitment to “sustainability, craftsmanship, innovation and commitment to training future professionals”, since Nieto is director of the School of Fashion of the IED Madrid.
Nuria de Miguel, director of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid (MBFWMadrid) catwalk and member of the jury, wanted to congratulate the winner through their social networks and the other 17 designers who «together with Moisés have participated with their projects in the first edition of This award”. «It has been a privilege to know first-hand all these projects, with diverse approaches and identities, which also reaffirm that Spanish fashion is alive and that, despite the difficulties of the moment, the sector is focused on evolving and giving a step forward, exploring new lines of business, ”said De Miguel.
The main objective of this new call is to promote and promote the fashion sector, actively contributing to the promotion of specialized training and the improvement of the business projection of fashion designers.
Moisés Nieto was awarded the 2017 National Fashion Award “A Nuevo Valor”, awarded by the Ministry of Industry; and in 2012 he won the L’Oreal Award for the best collection of EGO, the young catwalk of MBFWMadrid.
