The multinational TCL is in its big week. Yesterday it presented its new line of televisions and today it was the turn of its new family of smartphones. The company is indeed launching its entire 20 series, inaugurated in January at CES in Las Vegas and focused on its excellent content display capabilities. Equipped with NXTVISION 2.0 screens (exclusive TCL technology), these are three ultra-thin terminals that do not lack detail and that completely renew the manufacturer’s mid-range: TCL 20L, TCL 20L+ y TCL 20 Pro 5G.

The first two, TCL 20 L y TCL 20L +, they are remarkably similar. Both have generous 6.67-inch FHD + and HDR screens that cover 91% of the front. Above, in the center, a small hole makes room for the front camera. The refresh rate is 60 Hz, not bad for a mid-range but quite far from the 90 and even 120 Hz that other more advanced smartphones offer. The fingerprint reader is housed in a side button. By the way, another physical button is used, both in these two models and in the Pro, to invoke the assistance of Google.

The two terminals have a quadruple rear camera, although with different configurations. In the case of the TCL 20L, the main sensor is 48 megapixels, while in the TCL 20L + it is 64 megapixels. The rest of the cameras are common: a wide angle of 8 megapixels and 118 degrees of aperture; a 2 megapixel macro sensor; and a depth sensor, also 2 megapixels, for blurring in portrait mode. In the two terminals, the front camera is 16 megapixels.

The processor chosen for the two terminals is a classic of the mid-range: Qualcomm Snapdragon 662. The connectivity remains in 4G, leaving 5G for the model, already presented previously, TCL 20 5G. In the TCL 20 L, the processor is accompanied by 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB for storage, which in the case of the TCL 20L + grows to 6 GB and 256 GB. Of course, both are compatible with external micro SD memory cards of up to one TB.

The battery is 5,000 milliamers, without fast charging, and it takes about two and a half hours to go from zero to 100 percent.

These two terminals will arrive in our country in the coming weeks. The TCL 20L (4 GB + 128 GB) will cost 229.99 euros, and the TCL 20L + (6 GB + 256 GB) 249.99 euros.

TCL 20 Pro 5G, the king of the family

The Pro model is the one that takes the cake in terms of performance. In fact, it is safe to say that this is the best phone made by TCL to date. To begin with, it is a terminal 5G and clearly marks the differences with respect to the previous TCL 10 Pro.

The device has, this time, a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with support for HDR 10, although it maintains the FHD + resolution of the previous two. The panel occupies, according to TCL, 93% of the front and has a contrast ratio of 2,000,000: 1, much higher than the other two models. Unfortunately, the refresh rate stays at 60 Hz.

The display of the screen is enhanced by AI to highlight the shapes and colors. NxtVision technology adds improvements in color treatment and details. For TCL, it’s like watching a movie screen. According to the Dxomark test laboratory, we are facing the best screen for a mobile in this category.

In terms of the processor, however, the TCL 20 Pro takes a significant leap by moving to Qualcomm’s 700 series. It is a Snapdragon 750 5G, which comes supported by 6 GB of RAM and 256 GB for storage, of course expandable with micro SD cards.

The size of the battery, however, decreases, perhaps due to the fact that this model is somewhat more compact than the other two, and remains in the 4,500 milliamps. And this time yes, with a fast charging system of 18W (15W if the charge is wireless).

The biggest difference, however, can be found in the photography system. We have a 48 megapixel main sensor (Sony IMX582), but with optical stabilization (OIS) and autofocus (PDAF). It is accompanied by a 16-megapixel wide-angle and 123-degree field of view, a 5-megapixel macro, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

On the front, the selfie camera is 32 megapixels with HDR, a luxury in this category. The phone records videos in 4K (at 30 fps) and has a 2x optical zoom that grows up to 10x in digital. With 6 GB + 256 GB it will arrive at the end of this month of April and will cost 549.99 euros
