One day after having exceeded the eight thousand deaths associated with covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, Portugal registers this Wednesday new daily maximums of deaths and infected people.
There had never been, since March, a day with so many deaths and infections as this Wednesday. In 24 hours, 156 more people died with covid-19 (the previous maximum value was 155, recorded yesterday) and 10,556 were infected, surpassing the record of 10,176 cases on Friday. In total, 507,108 have already been infected by the new virus, 116,328 correspond to active cases. On the other hand, 382,544 people have recovered from the disease, 4460 more than yesterday.
With over 3793 infections, Lisbon and the Tagus Valley are the region that condenses the largest number of new cases, followed by the North, with 3628 infected. In the Center region, there are 2136 more cases, in Alentejo another 475 and in the Algarve another 411. The Azores archipelago has 69 new contagions and Madeira has 44.

74% of victims registered until midnight were 80 years old or older (115). Twenty-one were between 70 and 79, twelve between 60 and 69, five between 50 and 59, two between 40 and 49 and one belonged to the 30-39 age group.
In the hospital wards, there are 197 more people hospitalized (4240 in all). In intensive care, on the other hand, there are fewer three patients, out of a total of 596.
