Samsung TV has presented its new ‘smart TV’ series for 2021. After a 2020 in which television has gained, if possible, more importance due to the pandemic, the sale of these devices has increased notably. Especially in the devices with sizes of more than 75 “and in the smaller versions. In order to offer better image quality than the competition, the South Korean company has announced its plan to start putting on the market home televisions with Micro LED, a technology that will begin to arrive in sizes adapted for the home gradually during 2021. It was presented in 2018 on 292-inch screens, but will have 110 and 99-inch versions available starting in March, and 88 and 76, later in 2021.

The Micro LED is the cornerstone of the next generation of televisions, leaving behind the present QLED and OLED. The difference is that this technology allows each LED that makes up the display to light independently; thus achieving a much higher contrast and brightness. The problem is that, until now, the adaptation of this technology to screens of domestic dimensions was quite complicated.

In 8K and 4K

For this just started 2021, Samsung’s new 8K and 4K TV is the Neo QLED; that incorporates a Neo Quantum processor, with 16 multiple neural networks, and new Quantum Mini LEDs 1/40 the size of conventional LEDs. The thickness of Samsung’s Infinity Design leaves a frame only 0.9mm, practically non-existent, with all the technology installed on the base. The objective of the processor is to scale the size of the image so that it looks perfect regardless of the format, since in the face of the scarcity of original content, both in 8k and 4k, it is the televisions that have to adapt the image.

Specifically, the 8K Samsung Neo QLED models (QN800A and QN900A) will be available in 65 ”, 75” and 85 ”sizes. For its part, the screens compatible with 4K (QN90A and QN85A) can be found from 50 “.

Samsung has also made an effort so that these ‘smart TVs’ offer a good performance to video game players. Therefore, the screen has a menu to configure the television to enjoy images in 4k and 120hz quality, and a screen refresh rate of 5.8ms. The Neo QLED, in addition, is the official television of the Xbox Series X in Canada and is fully optimized for this console. Additionally, it has earned AMD’s Freesync Premium Pro certification for PC and game console games that offer low-latency HDR. The Asian company also has taken special care in the design of its new screens so that they blend into the environment and are capable of becoming an object of decoration, just like any other piece of furniture.

Like in the cinema

In the field of wellness and health, Samsung last spring launched Samsung Health, an application for exercise and meditation. Now he has enhanced it with the ‘Smart Trainer‘, by means of an external camera, the artificial intelligence will analyze the posture with respect to the exercise and will correct it if necessary.

Among the rest of the products presented, it also stands out The Premiere, a short throw 4K resolution triple laser projector. That is, from 11 cm away from the wall it is able to create a screen. It is designed to have the experience of home theater. To use it, the idea is that it is resting on the ground and that it is used more as a mobile element, to be able to enjoy the experience from anywhere in the house. According to Samsung, this is not a typical projector, as it is quite bulky and covered in a fabric that hides a 40W 4.2 channel audio system.

The South Korean company also showed The Terrace: outdoor television, resistant to weather conditions thanks to its IP55 certification. It will arrive in new sizes, and is available from now on in 55 “and 65”.

Finally, Samsung has introduced a new type of monitor, the ‘Smart Monitor’, designed, above all, for small spaces, where the work monitor and the television are one. On the one hand, we have a monitor with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, wireless DeX and AirPlay 2 connectivity, and cloud PC capabilities to function without a connected computer; and on the other a ‘smart TV’ with a remote control to use to watch streaming content.
