The decision of the german and british tourists it is as decisive as we all know. For decades, travelers from these two countries have packed the islands and the Mediterranean coast. When the third year of Covid is about to start, it seems that Spain is still his favorite destination, although visitor figures are still far from the best of times.
This week we have met the ABTA forecasts, the Association of British Travel Agents. According to their data (a survey among their clients), Spain will lead the reservations also in 2022, with Canada and Turkey as surprises among the top ten positions. And with the United States, which reopened its borders to tourists from the United Kingdom in November 2021, in second position.
On January 5, we learned that the UK was removing a PCR test requirement at the entrance of the country for vaccinated travelers, and travelers will also not have to isolate themselves on arrival. Yes, a test will be required in the two following days, but it will not have to be a PCR, a rapid test will suffice.
That relaxation of the rules, according to the agencies, has implied an evident growth in the number of reservations for the coming weeks and months. In a statement, Jet2, the main tour operator for British travelers, revealed that reservations to Spain had grown by 150% on the first day.
According to ABTA, the top 10 overseas destinations to which lBritons plan to travel in 2022 (and their change in ranking compared to last year) are:
1. Spain (29.3%) =
2. EE.UU. (18.1%) +1
