Nick Kyrgios complains about tennis basic income through ATP players’ association: ‘Still not enough’

At least some costs, such as travel or training, should be covered.

British tennis coach Calvin Betton, who mainly caters to young talent, has doubts about the programme’s effect. The coach told the Telegraph: “he’s aimed at the wrong people – it’s the ones who are outside the top 250 who really need help.”

Especially players between the 250 and 600 ranks need financial support, Betton said.

“Like Tom Cruise Saying Something”

The tennis coach also criticized the fact that a top player like Grigor Dimitrov made a benevolent comment about “Baseline” in the ATP press release.

“I find it rather amusing that the ATP announcement contains a quote from Dimitrov. It’s like asking Tom Cruise to say something about the difficulties of being an unsuccessful actor,” Betton lamented.
