Summer is finally here and we are wearing swimsuits more often again. However, parents of boys should be more careful here, because their swimsuits often have nets and can be dangerous for the little ones.

With swimwear with a mesh insert, it can happen that the boy’s foreskin gets caught in the mesh insert. This not only causes severe pain, but can also become very dangerous.

Nets in children’s swimwear

Nets are usually sewn into boys’ swim trunks, which provide extra support and actually act as a sort of “underpants” in baggy clothing. However, the supposed protection can be dangerous for small children, because if the foreskin gets caught in the net, it can shrink. This cuts off the blood supply and can lead to serious injury and, in the worst case, long-term damage.

The abandonment of networks

When buying a swimsuit, pay attention to the sewn-in nets, and if they are available, simply cut them out. Many manufacturers now do without nets completely, but they are still often processed in Germany. Inserts are also often found in shorts and gym shorts, these can also be easily removed.

What to do if it happens to your child

If your child is wearing a swimsuit with a mesh and it happens to get tangled with his skin, it is very important that you do not take off his clothes easily. This only makes the pain worse and can lead to more damage. Instead, he rushes your offspring to a hospital where doctors can professionally remove the mesh. This way you prevent your child from suffering major damage.
