After differing opinions on the return of cycling shorts, now capri pants are back in the game. It was all the rage in the 2000s, but it’s actually much older. Capri pants were not born on the Italian island of the same name, but in Germany. More precisely in Munich.
After a holiday in Italy, Bavarian designer Sonja de Lennart felt inspired to create a Capri collection – the birth of the trousers, characterized by the combination of a three-quarter or 7/8 length and a tapered leg. Shortly after the Second World War, between 1945 and 1948, the Capri pants were born, whose sophisticated side slit made it possible to easily turn the pants inside out and stroll in the warm water of the sea, for example.
Which capri pants are popular?
The little side vent at the hem is more optional these days. What distinguishes the Capri pants from the Radler model is not only the length, but also the variety of materials. The three-quarter pants are not only available in sporty jersey, everything is possible, from fine wool fabrics to robust polyester and robust denim.
How are Capri pants matched?
Capri pants were originally worn by fashionistas like Audrey Hepburn in an elegant combination with a fine knit black sweater. Today style breaks are increasingly used so that the look does not appear too stuffy. The classic capri goes well with a hoodie, the sporty version in jersey or denim goes well with an elegant blazer or a classic cardigan. Sneakers or high heels make the outfit casual or dressy. It becomes really summery in combination with oversized blouses and mules.

Bermuda shorts had also long since disappeared from the fashion scene, but were revived by Prada and Chanel. In fact, they owe their name to the homonymous archipelago, where they are an integral part of the classic men’s business look due to the permanent summer temperatures. Here, however, shorts have also made their way into the women’s wardrobe and are now also suitable for the office.
Which Bermuda shorts are popular?
A little longer than cycling shorts, a little shorter than capri pants: Bermuda shorts finish just above the knee and are therefore a compromise in terms of length. Classically, they come in a loose, casual cut, but tighter denim styles are also welcome this year. Again, the same goes here: The material doesn’t matter, because what ultimately defines pants is their knee length. The new it-pieces are also available in flowing fabrics such as silk, in airy linen variants or in casual leather.
How do Bermuda go together?
Previous men’s trousers can quickly appear masculine or too casual. To prevent this from happening, they should be styled chic rather than sporty. Bermuda shorts go perfectly with blazers, fitted tops and pumps. Boots are a nice style break with shorts. Trendy jewelery completes the noble look.
