“The French Dispatch” was released in 2021 and premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. The film begins with the death of publisher Arthur Howitzer Jr. (Bill Murray) and the latest issue of The French Dispatch newspaper. In a parallel narrative of four different stories that will appear in the final issue, Wes Anderson presents a run through stage sets, comics, black-and-white film, comedy, and his signature design of detailed settings and scenery. As usual, the protagonists seem rather unapproachable, but nevertheless the comedy jumps at the audience in all the right places and thus ensures a break from the otherwise rather melancholic atmosphere. “City of Asteroids” (2023)
In Wes Anderson’s latest film ‘Asteroid City’, currently in theaters, his picture book world returns to the screen in pastel colors of green, blue, pink and yellow, detailed sets and the iconic and whimsical Anderson pen.
The film takes place in 1955 and is about the contestants “Junior Stargazer Congress” and an alien encounter – and that in the middle of the desert in the USA in a small town with an asteroid crater.
