Tod’s is bringing back one of the most popular accessories of the 2000s in 2024

Fashion

Tod’s shows at Milan Fashion Week how the Y2K belt will become a trendy accessory in 2024.

When you think of the traditional Italian company Tod’s, the brand’s classic loafers probably immediately come to mind. An iconic status that also demonstrates: the company, which is now 124 years old (!), knows how a noble and, above all, adult style works. This is demonstrated by the classic pieces on the catwalk, which, in addition to a soothing color palette, are also remembered for their high-quality material properties. Spectators at the current Milan Fashion Week were probably relatively surprised by the new trendy accessory from Tod’s, which accompanied a total of twelve looks in the autumn/winter 2024 collection – and which was reminiscent of the 2000s and therefore the Y2K trend.

Belts on the hips become elegant statements at Tod’s

Black, gray and brown leather belts with XXL buckles in silver and gold were wrapped a good four inches below the models’ waists. The eye-catching belts were hung so casually that the excess length stuck out downwards. A very elegant version of an accessory which, enriched with lots of rhinestones, also completed many looks from the 2000s. For Autumn/Winter 2024, Tod’s has taken the casualness and eccentricity of the year 2000, as well as the constant enthusiasm of Gen Z for the decade, and mixed them with their own more classic heritage for the new collection.

A creative brushstroke that is found throughout the show. The belts in question were paired with asymmetrical blouses, brown leather pieces and, mind you, shirts worn twice on top of each other. The latter is as simple as it is ingenious and refreshes muted pieces in the form of light blue vertical stripe patterns such as long wool coats, capes and sharply cut leather coats. They seem to show how office-friendly Y2K can be.

And just as the much-talked-about Gen Z sets out to change today’s world of work, Tod’s new designs mix classic office fashion in a stylish way.
